Winzer Sommerach
The Winzer Sommerach cooperative has existed since the beginning of the 20th century and was founded by 35 families from the Franconian village of Sommerach. They founded the first and thus oldest winegrowers’ cooperative in Franconia.
Today, the cooperative is made up of 90 families whose common pursuit is wines with soul, passion and character, which have already won numerous awards. In their small plots, the families produce great wines. Thanks to the selective harvest, which is indispensable, nothing is left to chance. The work of each individual makes the Winzer Sommerach cooperative one of the best wine producers in the region. In doing so, the winegrowing families take responsibility for the environment and the conservation of resources. The families are fairly remunerated for their work by the cooperative.
“As the oldest Franconian winegrowers’ cooperative, we not only work uncompromisingly to achieve outstanding wine quality, but also protect and preserve the resources available to us. We are committed to our winegrowing families, who cultivate their vineyards with heart and soul and passion, for the most part as a sideline. FAIR’N GREEN accompanies us holistically and constantly to sustainably preserve the small structures in our winegrowing villages and to secure the economic activity of our families in the future.”
Frank Dietrich, Chairman of the Board

Philosophy
As part of the grape production conditions and quality rules, binding rules on vineyard management have been laid down for all members of Winzer Sommerach. The use of glyphosate is prohibited in the vineyards and the use of pesticides is being continuously reduced.
In addition, everyone is working to protect the soil and groundwater. All pomace is returned to the vineyards as compost and the cooperative subsidizes the sowing of species-rich and specially composed green cover.
The cooperative Winzer Sommerach is committed to a more sustainable and resource-conserving way of doing business. This includes electricity from renewable sources, labels and cardboard packaging made from FSC-certified paper and climate-neutral parcel shipping.
