Winery Stachel
The Stachel winery from Maikammer in the Palatinate has been in the family business for generations and cultivates a total of 19 hectares in the Südliche Weinstraße region. Erich Stachel has been a winemaker for decades and has passed on his passion for this profession to his son Matthias. He followed in his father’s footsteps, learning his trade from scratch and successfully completing his training at top wineries and as a viticultural technician.
After that, his curiosity and thirst for knowledge about everything to do with viticulture took him halfway around the world: in California and New Zealand, he acquired knowledge about grape varieties that are lesser known or at least not cultivated in this country, the viticultural techniques practised there and other extensive specialist knowledge. He has been responsible for the cultivation and development of the wines since 2003.
