The Schloss Sommerhausen winery has been in existence since 1435. 579 grape harvests later, the young team is now the 15th generation to run the 25-hectare winery, filling the old walls of the castle built in 1435 with life and innovation.

In the sloping and steep vineyards around Sommerhausen, excellent wines with a high extract content and individual character grow on shell limestone soils. The focus is on the classic grape varieties Silvaner, Riesling and the Burgundy family. Special attention is paid to the cultivation of dry, aromatic wines from the Muscat Silvaner, Muscat, Gewürztraminer and Scheurebe grape varieties.
“For us, membership of FAIR’N GREEN is the logical continuation of our previous actions – here, all our business activities are scrutinized in all areas. Not only is the status quo recorded, but a continuous improvement process is initiated and supported! It also creates a network of like-minded colleagues to share experiences.”

Weingut Schloss Sommerhausen is the opposite of statics, stagnation, an encrusted world view and misunderstood tradition, as evidenced by the Steinmann selection and the innovative “Fränkisch Frechen” wines.
Weingut Schloss Sommerhausen has been cultivating its vineyards organically since 2011. With the FAIR’N GREEN certification, it goes one step further. Sustainability is more than just a phrase for Schloss Sommerhausen! The winery is happy to take on challenges, is committed to sustainable viticulture and thus assumes responsibility for the future.
At the Emil Bauer and Sons winery, tradition and modernity come together and viticulture is now being practiced with passion and heart and soul in the 5th generation. The focus is on sustainable and creative work. A special feature is not only the eye-catching labels with cheeky slogans, but also the new red grape varieties that are grown here in the Palatinate. The increasingly warm summers have given the brothers Martin and Alexander Bauer the idea of cultivating grape varieties beyond the traditional German varieties, so that Malbec, Petit Verdot, Sangiovese, Barbera and Nebbiolo can now also be found in the Palatinate.
