The Kirsten-Liebieg winery in Klüsserath, idyllically situated on the steep slopes of the Moselle, was taken over by Bernhard and Inge Kirsten in 1992 and further developed in 2018 in collaboration with Andreas Kreuter under the name Liebieg. With the 2023 vintage, the Kirsten winery returns to the label with its first wines from the steep slopes of the Middle Moselle, complementing the wines of the Liebieg manufactory from the terraced vineyards in Winningen. Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc are among the grapes grown on the approximately 27 hectares of vineyards, most of which grow on weathered slate soil. The focus is on cultivating steep vineyards, where Bernhard Kirsten applies his technical expertise and passionately produces Moselle wines with a strong character in an ecologically and socially responsible environment.
“By becoming a member of Fair and Green e. V., we at Weingut Liebieg are underlining our sustainable approach both in viticulture and in our business as a whole.
It is particularly important to us to produce Moselle wines with character in an ecologically and socially highly responsible context. Our goal is the consistent further development of sustainability thinking.”
