The Krebs winery from Freinsheim cultivates 25 hectares of vineyards in the Mittelhaardt region, focussing on the Riesling and Pinot Noir varieties. 25 hectares and no hocus-pocus – hand in hand with nature, it aims to produce wines that taste good and tell their story. The Krebs winery is certified organic and is keen to contribute to the responsible treatment of nature in this way too. Its endeavour is to combine traditional quality viticulture with modern vinification without too much of a good thing.
“With our organic-certified working methods and our feeling for our vineyards, we are already focussing significantly on a conscious approach to nature. By becoming a member of FAIR’N GREEN, we want to expand the aspect of sustainability in order to ultimately gain a holistic sense of all areas of the business and the entire business management. We also see great potential for new perspectives through dialogue with other members.”

Trusting the vineyards and the grapes and bringing more tranquillity back into the cellar management is what the Krebs winery is all about. Solid craftsmanship, knowledge and experience are nothing without gut feeling and inspiration. The soils of the vineyards form the basis for the expressiveness of the wines. The geology of Freinsheim and the neighbouring villages forms a veritable potpourri of different soils. From (quartz) sand, gravel, loess, loam and limestone, the range of subsoils here is one on which the grape varieties mature at their best and later lend the wines their individual character. The wine cellar is ultimately the place where the wines are created and matured. Here the wines are given the time they need to fully express their personality.
