The Heymann-Löwenstein winery in Winningen was founded in 1980 by Reinhard Löwenstein (the thirteenth generation of winegrowers) and Cornelia Heymann-Löwenstein. However, the Löwenstein family has been growing grapes in Winningen since 1520. Daughter Sarah Löwenstein is now the 14th generation to take over the winery and cultivates around 12 hectares of vines. Riesling, which is marketed as bottled wine and sparkling wine, is mainly grown on terraces on the slate-rich soils.
“FAIR’N GREEN makes an important contemporary contribution to securing the future of German viticulture, to the development of a sustainable wine culture that is responsible towards the environment.”

The Löwenstein family has been growing wine in Winningen for more than 500 years. The constant throughout this time has been change. A holistic view of the wine and the growing region has been pursued from generation to generation.
Sarah Löwenstein, the 14th generation owner, says: “I would like to consistently develop this concept around people, their community and relationships.”
The wines show the character of the different seasons, the different sites and the generations and are constantly evolving.
