Winery Hechtmann
The Hechtmann winery is located in Ilbesheim in the Palatinate and is run by Tina and Jens Hechtmann. As viticulture and oenology technicians, they contribute their knowledge and experience to the complex winemaking process. Jens Hechtmann’s work focuses on winemaking, as well as outside among the vines of the winery. Tina Hechtmann still loves the manual work in the vineyard, but is also very involved in the running of the guest house.
The winery cultivates 25 hectares of vineyards. There are no wines with classic Prädikat designations here. The Hechtmann winery abandoned the use of predicates years ago and markets all its wines as quality wines. Specialties are the wines from the Ranschbacher Seligmacher and Ilbesheimer Kalmit vineyards, as well as the “Geschwisterliebe” and “Nonno Alfredo” cuvées, for example.
“We came across FAIR’N GREEN through fellow winemakers. It was here that we realized that this concept convinced us. All areas of resource conservation and environmental protection, from viticulture to cellar management and marketing, are taken into account. This is exactly what we believe: environmental protection in agriculture is so much more than simply not using pesticides! We would like to make our possible contribution to protecting and strengthening our environment. We look forward to new ideas and exchanging ideas with colleagues.”

Philosophy
Being winemakers is a family tradition for the Hechtmann family. They carry out their profession with full conviction and dedication to nature and their region. This also means that many hours are spent working in the vineyard with traditional manual labor.
The Hechtmann winery has been a FAIR’N GREEN certified business since 2018 and since then has placed an even greater focus on sustainability, biodiversity and resource conservation throughout the business.
No use of herbicides and insecticides, no use of mineral nitrate fertilizers, recycling instead of throwing away wine bottles, economical use of diesel, electricity, gas and water, and much more – this is what fair and green and sustainable viticulture means for the Hechtmann winery.
