Winery Burggarten
The Burggarten Winery is run by the Schäfer family, who are deeply rooted in the heart of the Ahr Valley. Their passion lies in wine and the nature that makes it possible. For the Burggarten Winery, wine does not begin in the cellar, but outside, in the vineyards.
Here, on the steep slopes of the Ahr Valley, on the unique soils of volcanic and slate origin, grow the grapes that shape the character of its wines.
“With FAIR’N GREEN certification, we have found a partner
who accompanies and supports us on our path to sustainable and fair viticulture. Our approach means promoting biodiversity in the vineyards and using energy and water efficiently.”

Winery Burggarten
By avoiding chemically produced mineral fertilizers, herbicides, and artificial irrigation, the natural greening of the soil creates the competitive environment we desire for the vines. This allows them to produce aromatic fruits, which we harvest at the right time through multiple, exclusively selective hand-picking.Philosophy
The philosophy of the Burggarten Winery is clear: it cultivates its vineyards with respect and dedication. Sustainability is not just a buzzword, but a commitment to nature, the vines, and future generations.
Every step of the process, whether in the vineyard or in the cellar, is carried out with the aim of bringing the best possible quality to the glass. The heart of the Burggarten Winery beats especially for Pinot Noir, which has found a very special home in the Ahr region.
This grape variety is a real challenge, but that is precisely what spurs them on. With a great deal of sensitivity and patience, everyone works together to bring out its elegant and complex character in the wines.
But the other wines are also an expression of the diversity and power of the Ahr Valley. What drives the Burggarten Winery? Its love of wine and the joy of sharing this passion with people.
They don’t want to chase trends, but rather create wines that are honest and authentic: wines that tell the stories of the Burggarten Winery.
