Wetli Weine
The Wetli Weine winery in Berneck in the Swiss canton of Sankt Gallen was founded in 1860. Kaspar Jr. Wetli took over the management of the winery in 2022 and currently runs it with his brothers Matthias, Florian and Adrian. Various grape varieties are cultivated on around 18 hectares of vineyards, including Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris, as well as Dolinoir and Gamaret. The soils are mostly brown earth.
“We are a family business that has always built on deeply rooted values. This includes a love of nature and its preservation. We are not only committed to sustainability in the vineyard, because we want to make our entire system sustainable. FAIR’N GREEN helps us to improve and focus on the right things. We want the next generations to be able to continue this centuries-old wine culture.”

Philosophy
On the steepest southern slopes of eastern Switzerland, the brothers Kaspar Jr, Matthias, Florian and Adrian continue the winemaking tradition of their parents Kaspar and Susanne Wetli. The unusual constellation of this winegrowing family is unique in Switzerland, if not the world. New ideas meet traditional values with great verve and reinforce the winery’s commitment to quality.
With around 18 hectares in three cantons, the brothers stand for honest, sustainable viticulture. The steep foothills of the Appenzell hills, which extend into the Rhine Valley, provide excellent conditions for both established and new varieties. Respect for nature and the necessary sensitivity in winemaking form the roots for characterful and modern wines.
The family welcomes their guests with great warmth and makes sure they have a wonderful time. They are happy to share their winemaker’s joy during tastings, tours or events in the modern rooms of the wine cellar.
