Weingut Madame Flöck
The Madame Flöck winery has been run by Canadian Derek Labelle and American Robert Kane since 2017. They came to the Moselle wine terraces with €4,000 in their pockets and a crazy dream: to bring the flowing Moselle back to life! They started restoring some old Moselle vineyards and planting new ones, as well as converting some of their vineyards to organic farming. They did everything everyone said not to do and eventually became known as the crazy, passionate and cheeky winemakers who don’t speak German.
Today, their wines are exported to 16 countries worldwide. Robert and Derek are still exploring the old vineyards along the Moselle to restore them, working with local winemakers, creating wines from unknown and even unloved grape varieties and proclaiming the rise of the Beautiful New Moselle to the world. All their wines are grown by hand, made naturally, without additives or other waste.
Welcome to the beautiful new Moselle! Have courage and get flocked!
“Derek and Robert’s commitment to sustainable wine has been the founding principle of Madame Flöck Wines since we began restoring the first vineyards in late 2017.
The partnership with FAIR’N GREEN allows us to develop and implement more advanced sustainability practices that will ensure the long-term viability of our business. But enough with the “business-speak”: if you’re not sustainable, you’re flocked – and flocked is stupid!”

Philosophy
All of Madame Flöck’s vineyards are dry-grown, herbicide-free and tended by hand. This means that no machine ever touches the vineyards, no glyphosate messes with the natural biodiversity of the vineyards and hands are blistered, backs are broken and minds are lost when Robert and Derek harvest the grapes for the Madame Flöck winery.
The somewhat strange names of the vineyards are particularly striking. All the vineyards of the Madame Flöck winery are named after winemakers and mentors who have given their time, energy, friendship and expertise to the young winemakers’ passion for wine in recent years.
