Wegner Winery
Joachim Wegner took over the Wegner winery from his father Karl in 1989 after completing his studies in Geisenheim and developed it into an insider tip for top wines. Courage and the willingness to break new ground have led him to many successes and awards such as the Grand State Prize. Joachim Wegner integrates “old” knowledge that has been developed over generations in viticulture and combines it with new scientific findings.
The Wegner winery is a family business in the best sense of the word. Joachim Wegner still consults with his father Karl. His wife Angela supports him at events and wine tastings, and with his son Philipp, the succession is also assured.
Riesling, the estate’s most important variety, grows on around a third of the twelve hectares of vineyards. On the gentle slopes and in the mild climate of the Rhine Graben, Riesling finds optimal conditions in and around Bad Dürkheim for excellent wines ranging from estate Riesling to top wines. The estate also cultivates the classic Burgundy varieties, but has also been growing international varieties such as Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot for many years.
“Holistic, authentic, practical – FAIR’N Green fits in perfectly with our convictions about sustainable viticulture. We are committed to the principles of an integrated way of farming that is open to new developments and preserves our livelihoods and production bases for future generations. Fair’n Green supports and evaluates our efforts and helps us to develop further in terms of sustainability.”

Philosophy
Cultivation in harmony with nature according to the motto of intervening as much as necessary and as little as possible in the natural processes is one of the principles. This requires a great deal of experience and precise knowledge of the vineyard.
Joachim Wegner is a founding member of the Forum Pfalz. He is particularly interested in ageing his top white and red wines in small wooden barrels in order to maximize their ageing potential.
He has developed his own style and creates elegant wines with a strong character, from delicate to complex, long-lasting and full-bodied. “Our aim is to produce wines that taste good and leave you wanting more,” is how the down-to-earth winemaker sums up his business philosophy.
