Peter Siener Winery
The Siener winery in Birkweiler is run by Peter Siener and has been all about family and wine for three generations. Various grape varieties are cultivated on around 16.5 hectares, including Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir. The soils are partly loamy and lie on shell limestone, red sandstone or Rotliegend. Peter Siener is as deeply rooted in Birkweiler as his vines are in the soils of the foothills of the Palatinate mountains.

Philosophy
Like himself, Peter’s wines are full of character, sometimes a little stubborn, but unmistakable, with a lot of backbone and always worth the patience. Many ferment long, slowly and spontaneously, i.e. without the addition of pure yeasts, and remain on the lees for a long time. This means: a wide variety of wines, restrained in alcohol, low in residual sweetness and with great ageing potential. Power, acidity and length are combined with freshness and tension in a variety of ways.
