The Meyer-Näkel-Ahr winery in Dernau has now been in existence for four generations. It is currently run by the sisters Meike and Dörte Näkel. The family cultivates predominantly red grape varieties in the Ahr Valley with passion and uncompromising quality awareness. 90% of the Meyer-Näkel-Ahr winery’s 20 hectares of vineyards are planted with Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir, which grow in the steep, slate-dominated vineyards of the Mittelahr.
“Sustainability is the key concept of our generation, because only through sustainable management in social, environmental and economic areas can we secure viticulture, the wine-growing landscape and thus our existence and especially that of future generations!”

The Burgundy wines from the Meyer-Näkel winery are characterized by minerality and elegance. Sustainable viticulture on the easily warmed and skeleton-rich soils shape the character of the wines: they are mineral, fruity and persistent and at the same time impress with a balanced tannin structure.
The Näkel family’s philosophy has always been to preserve this specific “terroir” in the wines and bring it out to its best advantage.
