Winery Wilhelm Kern
Kellerei Kern in Kernen-Rommelshausen is a producer association that works with over 150 winegrowers. The winery was founded in 1903 by its namesake Wilhelm Kern and has been managed by Christoph Kern since 2022. A total of around 170 hectares of vineyards are cultivated, on which grape varieties such as Trollinger, Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are grown on partly sandy, but also clayey-loamy soils. These are primarily direct sites, but steep and terraced sites are also cultivated to a lesser extent.

“Out of personal conviction, we took the first step towards sustainable production with the construction of our new winery in 2012. Today, sustainability is one of our core corporate values. Thanks to its holistic approach, FAIR’N GREEN helps us to harmonize economic, ecological and social objectives and to continuously improve. We particularly like the dynamism and development capability of the system and the transparency of certified sustainable wine production for us and our customers. With FAIR ‘N GREEN, we are consistently pursuing the path we have taken together with our grape producers in order to remain successful in the future.”

Philosophy
Lifelong learning with and from each other is a self-evident principle for our entire family. We see it as an extraordinary and not at all self-evident opportunity to be able to run a company together with grandparents, parents and children. It’s not just family cohesion that benefits from this. The company also benefits because the experience, routine and desire to experiment of different generations come together. Nevertheless, there is no false harmony. We do not want to suppress differing opinions and the odd argument.
Pulling together when it comes to important decisions and being sure of your own freedom is part of a healthy family life and the corporate culture at Kellerei Kern. You can only make progress if you not only pull together, but also in the same direction. Over 100 years of company history proves that we Kerns are a good team.
