The Axel Bauer winery is dedicated to the exposed steep slopes that can be found around Bühl and significantly shape the cultural landscape of the region. Some of the estate’s vineyards are over 40 years old and are characterized by low yields and dense plantings. Some of them are still planted with original French Pinot clones.
The Bauer family’s winemaking tradition goes back many years. In 2012, Axel Bauer took over the winery and steered the business in a new direction. Torsten Klein joined the team as cellar master in 2019 and, together with Axel Bauer, has stood for innovative and passionate viticulture ever since.
“Viticulture only has a successful future if it is practiced sustainably. We see it as our duty to manage our young winery in a holistic manner from an ecological, social and economic perspective. In this way, we want to make an active contribution to the future of our winery, the social security of our employees and the protection of the environment. We see Fair and Green e. V. as a partner that effectively supports us in our efforts.”
