Information for
consumers
OUR VISION
Fair and Green e. V. pursues the guiding principle of holistically sustainable agriculture.
This acts with respect for the environment, is climate-neutral, socially just and economically viable for producers, retailers and consumers.
In order to achieve this goal, we have developed the FAIR’N GREEN certification system and are already applying it in viticulture, fruit growing and, in the future, other sectors.
FAIR’N GREEN is a
recognized sustainability seal
for agriculture and nutrition.
The companies that undergo certification are audited annually on the basis of an extensive catalog of criteria. Compliance with the relevant minimum requirements is verified by the independent inspection body GUTcert.
The FAIR’N GREEN sustainability certificate is used both on the certified products and in other communication by the certified companies.
By combining the terms “fair” and “green”, observers of the certificate intuitively recognise that both environmental and social aspects play a role here.
The FAIR'N GREEN pillars of sustainability - The 3+1 model
Core standard pillars 1 to 3
The generally recognised model of sustainability is based on the three pillars of
ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY
ECOLOGICAL SUSTAINABILITY
SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY
3 pillars as the basis of the sustainability system
For us, too, these three pillars form the foundation for sustainability certification.
In the FAIR’N GREEN sustainability system, these three areas of sustainability are covered by the first three pillars.

Pillar 4
INDUSTRY-SPECIFIC SUSTAINABILITY
We also have a fourth pillar in the FAIR’N GREEN system. This sets out the industry-specific requirements for each sector.
